🗣️ The easiest way to capture thoughts

Learn how to transcribe voice notes, how to organize them using AI, and even how to setup a widget on your phone screen to start transcribing with the tap of the finger.

Welcome back to the Reflect Academy newsletter, where each week we teach you a new note-taking workflow.

Voice note transcriptions are the fastest and easiest way to record your thoughts. AI has made voice transcriptions practical for the first time by making them nearly 100% accurate – far better than voice assistants Siri or Alexa.

This email will show you how to transcribe voice notes, how to organize them using custom AI prompts, and even how to set up a widget on your phone screen to start transcribing with the tap of the finger.

Step 1: How to transcribe voice notes using AI

The easiest way to transcribe voice notes is right from within your notes. Tools like Reflect have audio transcribers built in that use AI, making the transcriptions extremely accurate.

On the desktop and browser app, there is a microphone in the top left you can use to transcribe your voice. On the mobile app, tap the + button and then the microphone.

Once your voice note has transcribed, it will land in your daily note. It can take a few seconds or a few minutes depending on how long the recording is.

Step 2: Organize your transcription with AI

Having a large block of text in your notes is not ideal. Fortunately, AI can organize it for us.

There are a handful of pre-built prompts in Reflect you can use to organize your transcriptions. Pull them up by highlighting the text, and using the cmd j shortcut.

You can also save your own custom prompts that format your notes for you. That way you can record your reflections, meetings and even project proposals while walking around or making coffee. Afterwards, AI will format it for you.

💡 Pro Tips

Remember that the first couple of times you record a voice note, it might feel a little awkward. This goes away shockingly fast. Soon, you'll be annoyed when you have to type!

If you want to dive into more complex workflows, we have an entire playlist on YouTube dedicated to taking voice and audio notes.
