Ask AI anything from your notes

I've talked a lot about using AI prompts and saving custom prompts within your notes. But you don't have to save these prompts. You can also ask the AI anything through the open field text box.

I’ll give a quick demonstration and then talk about some use cases.

How to use the open field AI text box

Start by highlighting some text and then pulling up Reflect’s AI assistant like normal. You can do this by clicking on the ✨ magic stars or using the cmd j shortcut.

You’ll notice at the top, there is an open text box that says “Ask anything to AI…”. Here you can input anything you’d like.

Use cases

Keep in mind this is not a chat (use our AI chat through advanced search for this). Whatever you input will return a single output.

Here are some ways to use the open field AI assistant:

Test new AI prompts

If you want to see if something will work with the AI Assistant but don't yet want to commit to saving a custom prompt, just ask the open field text box. If it works, you can then formalize it into a full custom prompt that you save.

Quickly find information in large chunks of text

Let's say you're in a board meeting and someone asks about a specific metric. You know the metric was mentioned in last week's All Hands Call, but you can't remember what it is. You could just go back to that transcript and ask the AI what that metric was.

Get quick feedback on notes and writing

Do you need to write a delicate email and want to make sure the tone is right? Or maybe you want to check if something is factually accurate. Just highlight the text and ask!

Request specific changes to your writing

If you do a lot of writing, you likely have a lot of niche cases depending on what you're working on. The open field text box lets you quickly change the tone, style, and structure of your writing. It can also add evidence to strengthen points and find things you missed.

Quickly format your notes

Sometimes you need to convert your notes to a quick format that you don't want to save into a custom prompt. The open field text box lets you quickly and easily do this without having to take the time in saving custom formatting.

Quickly find and change information

The open field AI Assistant can actually change your notes for you as well. For example, you can take a recipe you've saved and quickly adapt it for the ingredients you have.
