🎙️📝 How to take notes from Podcasts

Save what you hear on podcasts as you listen, and have it land right within your notes!

Podcasts are full of valuable information, but capturing it can be clunky. You pause the audio, try to write something down, forget what was said, rewind, etc. It’s messy, and most people simply don’t take podcast notes.

This email will show you a system for taking podcast notes. While it requires some legwork to set up, the process is then quite easy, and you can even use AI to get key takeaways and summaries for you.

Step 1: download Snipd

Snipd is an app that easily lets you take podcast notes by highlighting and summarizing your favorite parts of podcasts.

Snipd is a paid app but has a generous free plan. We have no affiliation, it’s simply the best podcast notes tool we’ve found.

Start playing around with how to take 'snips' of podcast notes, generate AI summaries, and explore all their other features.

Step 2: Allow Snipd to sync with Readwise

You’ll now need to turn on Readwise exports. This will allow you to connect your podcast highlights with your notes.

To do this, tap on your profile within Snipd in the bottom right corner, and then tap “Export & Sync”. You’ll then need to enable the Readwise integration, as well as enter your Readwise access token (there is a helpful link within settings to find it).

Note: if you don’t yet have a Readwise account, you’ll first need to set one up and sync automatic exports with Reflect. There is a video walkthrough of how to do this here.

Step 3: Test the integration

You're now ready to take new podcast notes in Snipd! After taking a new set of podcast notes, check that your notes appear correctly in Readwise and sync to Reflect.

They should appear backlinked from your daily note under a bullet labeled “Podcasts”. This makes it very easy to keep the various content formats you save separate and organized.
