đź“‹ Turn notes into actionable plans

A custom AI prompt that makes actionable plans out of voice transcriptions, meetings or content pieces like a YouTube video or article.

A lot of the information we capture is around a plan or instruction on how to do something.

Maybe your team discusses a plan in a meeting of how to achieve quarterly goals. Maybe you're watching a YouTube video or reading an article explaining how to build or accomplish something.

This email will give you a custom prompt that takes any information context and produces a step-by-step “how-to” plan.

1. Set up the custom prompt

You'll first need to copy and save the custom prompt.

The easiest way is to do this right from within your notes. Alternatively, you could also save it in a document and use it with a chatbot like ChatGPT or Claude. If you’ve never saved a custom prompt in your notes, here is a video explaining how.

Copy the following custom prompt:

Your job is to take the SelectedText below and generate a plan around it. Your goal should first be to find the goal of the transcription. So if it seems like a discussion transcription from a call or something, it's likely a meeting about a project or similar. The output might be a project proposal or... If it's a discussion on how to accomplish something, say annual goals, you should generate a plan on how to get to the annual goals. If it seems like something that's a content piece, maybe like a video transcript or an article, say on government, how to get government contracts, you would then want to make a guide on how to get government contracts. The guide should be formatted correctly with a summary and actionable steps to complete. Include any other information to make a solid plan that's executable.

đź’ˇ Tip: You'll likely want to customize this prompt for whatever kind of plans you're using it for. However, this base prompt works pretty well for general use cases.

By the way, we have a bunch of custom AI prompts you can copy and use in this spreadsheet.

2. Save your information source

Audio Transcriptions

This prompt works the best transcriptions. This could be a meeting transcription, a YouTube video transcription, or even just a voice note of yourself thinking out loud while you take a walk.

3. Run the AI prompt on your saved text

Now all you have to do is select your saved text and run the AI prompt on it. Below I take the transcript from a YouTube video, and convert it into a plan.

Remember that as you use the prompt more, you'll probably want to tweak and customize it for your own needs.
